    Key Concepts of Abhyangam

  • Dosha Balance: Abhyangam helps in balancing the three doshas Vata, Pitta, and Kapha which govern all bodily functions. It is especially effective in reducing excess Vata, which causes dryness, stiffness, and anxiety.
  • Snehana (Oleation): Abhyangam is a form of external oleation therapy, where herbal oils are used to nourish the body, soften tissues, and loosen toxins for elimination.
  • Marma Therapy: The massage involves gentle stimulation of Marma points (vital energy points in the body), promoting physical and mental healing.
  • Detoxification: The warm oils penetrate the skin, helping to dislodge toxins (Ama) from deep tissues and prepare them for removal through Swedana (herbal steam therapy).
  • Lymphatic Drainage & Circulation: Abhyangam stimulates the lymphatic system, enhances blood circulation, and supports the body's natural detox and immune functions.
  • Customized Herbal Oils: Oils are chosen based on an individual’s body constitution (Prakriti) and specific health needs. These oils are infused with medicinal herbs tailored to each condition.
  • Daily Wellness Practice (Dinacharya): In classical Ayurveda, Abhyangam is recommended as a daily self-care routine to maintain youthfulness, energy, and emotional balance.
